Shepherd Chemical’s zinc carbonate is a white crystalline powder, containing a minimum of 55%. It is easily soluble in acids and alkalis and nearly insoluble in water.
Zinc carbonate is a convenient intermediate for other zinc salts such as zinc carboxylates. It is also utilized as a precursor for catalysis applications, for instance for organic synthesis reactions. Zinc carbonate may also be employed to generate zinc oxide on various supports.
In the Oil and Gas industry, zinc carbonate helps remove sulfur traces in oil and gas wells. It is also employed as a hydrogen sulfide scavenger in oil drilling.
In personal care applications, it can be found in toothpaste to reduce sensitivity. It can also be found in skincare treatment for inflamed skins due to its antiseptic property.
In veterinary medicine, zinc carbonate is also widely used as an antiseptic to treat animal wounds as well as a supplement to address zinc deficiency.
Zinc carbonate is a well-known fireproof filler. In rubbers or plastics exposed to high temperature, it serves as a flame retardant. Zinc carbonate can also render fire resistance to cotton fabrics.
Other applications for zinc carbonate include: use as a pigment in porcelain and ceramics, as a corrosion inhibitor, as an additive in natural rubber to improve the transparency of the material.
Zinc carbonate is a highly versatile product. Its morphology and chemical composition can be adapted to fit the requirements of the specific intended use.
The management system governing the manufacture of this product is ISO 9001:2015 and RCMS®:2019 certified.
