Shepherd Chemical Awarded Environmental, Health, and Safety Award
(Columbus, Ohio) Shepherd Chemical was awarded the Ohio Chemistry and Technology Council (OCTC) award for excellence in environmental, health, safety, and security performance. The award was given based on the company’s performance in 2012. A significant aspect of the company’s environmental performance were the efforts to install and operate facilities which eliminated 50% of the copper discharge which was sent to the on-site water treatment system that ultimately discharges to the City of Cincinnati municipal sewer system. EHS director Rob Paxton commented “This approach is preferred as it eliminates the waste at the source and reduces the copper raw material requirement for the products involved.”
