Inorganic metal salts have been used for years to supplement the diets of livestock that feed on natural sources of food which may be deficient in the elements and minerals necessary for healthy growth and development. One such element is Cobalt, which has been determined to aid in the production of Vitamin B12 in ruminants such as sheep and cattle. By adding Cobalt salts to feed supplements, livestock producers can help provide the correct amount of Vitamin B12 necessary to keep their animals healthy and developing normally.
Our Widnes facility is a member of FEFANA (EU Association of Specialty Feed Ingredients and their Mixtures) - (http://www.fefana.org/home.aspx).
Shepherd Chemical offers Cobalt acetate tetrahydrate, Cobalt Carbonate (either Co(II) Carbonate min 46%, or Co (II) Carbonate Hydroxide monohydrate, or Coated Granulated Co (II) carbonate hydroxide monohydrate) which are listed on regulation (EU) No 601/2013 and are authorized as additives for use in animal feed in Europe.
